AWOL – SP Coaches first and primary focus is to assist in creating the AWOL – SP Experience. Second, all coaches MUST put the client FIRST…we are here to serve our clients and create confident STUDENT-athletes.As a member of the coaching staff we must work as a team, meaning that we are all on the same page. Our first step in accomplishing this is by creating a bond with each other, learning each person’s individual skills, goals, strengths and weaknesses.We aim to create a system in which we have a singular plan we follow for all athletes and speaking the same jargon. This singular plan will vary based on the athlete’s age and raw athleticability which will be determined through a pre-screening assessment. ATHLETES DO NOT TRAIN WITHOUT A PRE-SCREENING ASSESSMENT…WHY? We DO NOT want to injury our athletes.Our FIRST goal is to correct imbalances, movements efficiency and movement mechanics. After these movements are perfected then we will add external weight. There is no shame in having to use lighter weight in order to do the movement correctly – it is OUR JOB to teach this to our athletes. TECHNIQUE ALWAYS WINS!Lastly, we will focus on the little things. We all do the same push-ups and squats, but the LITTLE THINGS is what will separate us from the masses. Little things we will focus on are proper movement mechanics, functional core strength, flexibility, recovery, sport specific movements based on the needs of the sport, and mindset.We ENCOURAGE creativity but will not stray too far from the basics.
